New Here | COMMUNION
Communion is a special invitation to spiritual growth and development. It is often called a sacrament, or religious ceremony, because it reminds us of what Jesus did on the Cross. Communion is a physical token that expresses a spiritual reality.
Communion, sometimes called the Eucharist or The Lord’s Supper, is an essential act of worship in Christian churches. The ceremony is rooted in the Biblical account of the Last Supper, the Passover meal that Jesus had with His disciples on the night He was betrayed. When we take communion, we share bread and the fruit of the vine, remembering our Lord’s sacrifice on our behalf. We also celebrate the new covenant relationship believers have with God by faith in Christ’s death, burial and resurrection.
Communion is an invitation to share in…
- Proclaiming God’s Death (1 Cor 11:26)
- The Benefits of Christ’s Death (Mt 26:26)
- Receiving Nourishment and Refreshment for our Souls (John 6:53-57)
At the Vineyard, it is our practice to observe communion the first Sunday of a month. We invite all who believe in Christ to share communion with us. Children are encouraged to take communion with their parents if they understand the gospel and have made a confession of faith in Jesus.
