The Heart of Sunday Morning
When you think of Sunday morning here at the Vineyard you can think “corporate”. Now, if that is a cold business sounding word to you, then you can use the word “together” or united or “combined as one”. Yep, that is what corporate means. Throughout the week we may not all be together even though we are still a community. But Sunday that all changes. Sunday, we are combined together. We show up with our victories our failures, our experiences, and our stories. We bring all that we have become through the week. And something incredible happens! God meets us in the worship, the stories, and the teaching. Together, there is encouragement, renewal, healing and hope. That description may entice or intimidate but would’t church that is any less be a little disappointing?
This doesn’t mean it is only for people who already believe a certain way. Sunday is for the committed, the seeker, and the skeptic. Just come as you are and let the rest take care of itself.
What to expect
It can be a little intimidating visiting a new church. You are just not sure what to expect or what is expected of you. So, we thought we would let you know in advance.
You can come dressed any way you like, just make yourself comfortable. The important thing is to just be you. We officially begin at 10AM. If you like, you can arrive a half hour or so before and hang out in our coffee bar or browse the library. We have fresh complementary Starbucks and Folgers coffee. For non-coffee drinkers we have bottled water and sometimes juice. It provides a comfortable time and a place to hang out together or read. For parents who would like to use the nursery for their children ages 6wks-3yo (potty training), nursery staff will be available 10 minutes before service. For children 3yo (potty trained) through 6th grade, they will join parents during worship and be dismissed to Sunday School during announcements.
At 10AM we have some time of music together. Sometimes the songs are intimate and sometimes celebratory but it is our way of connecting with God as one. So, we sing together; some stand, some raise their hands, or maybe close their eyes. You can do whatever you feel. There are often stories shared during the morning of what God has done during the week.
Then we have a short break which is followed by a teaching. After the teaching there is normally have an opportunity to get prayer or even respond to God about something that He has impressed on you during the morning. After prayer has been offered, a prayer of blessing will be prayed and service is dismissed. Parents will be able to pick their children up from the nursery located upstairs or the Children's Ministry located downstairs.
We trust that if you show up and give God some room, you will leave better than you arrived.
